How I Turned One of Our Seamless Patterns Into a Cozy Printed Fleece Jacket

Have you ever wondered what a seamless pattern looks like when it is transformed into a real, wearable product?

I recently used one of our soft pink floral seamless patterns HERE to create this beautiful all-over-print fleece jacket—and I am so pleased with how it turned out! The delicate pink roses and green leaves printed beautifully across the soft, fluffy fabric, turning a digital pattern into something cozy, feminine, and completely unique.

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how I created the jacket using a print-on-demand provider, along with a few helpful tips for positioning your own seamless patterns on all-over-print products.

What Is Print on Demand?

Print on demand, often shortened to POD, allows you to create custom products without purchasing inventory in advance.

You upload your artwork to a print-on-demand provider, place it onto the product using the provider’s online design tool, and order the item. If you are creating products to sell, many POD providers can also connect directly to an online shop and fulfill customer orders for you.

This makes it possible to offer beautifully printed clothing, mugs, blankets, accessories, home décor, and other products without storing boxes of inventory in your home.

The Fleece Jacket I Used

For this project, I used the All-Over Print Unisex Borg Fleece Stand-Up Collar Coat with Zipper Closure from YOYCOL.

According to the current product listing, the jacket features:

• Soft 100% polyester Borg fleece

• A regular unisex fit

• A stand-up collar

• Long sleeves

• A full zipper closure

• 300 GSM fabric

• All-over transfer printing

Step 1: Choose a Seamless Pattern

Begin by choosing a seamless pattern that will work well across a larger garment.

For this jacket, I used one of our feminine watercolor floral patterns HERE featuring soft pink roses and fresh green leaves. The light color palette created a delicate, romantic look while still making the floral artwork visible on the textured fleece.

A seamless pattern is especially useful for all-over-print products because it can be repeated across a large print area without visible gaps between the tiles.

When choosing your pattern, consider:

• Whether the colors complement the type of product

• How large or small you want the motifs to appear

• Whether important elements could be interrupted by seams or the zipper

• How the design may look on textured fabric

• Whether the repeat feels balanced when viewed across the entire garment

Step 2: Open the Product Designer

Visit the YOYCOL product page and select the option to begin designing the jacket.

Upload your seamless pattern to the product designer. A high-resolution PNG or JPG file is usually the best choice for an all-over-print product. Your file should be large enough to cover the required print area without becoming blurry or pixelated.

Once uploaded, add the pattern to each printable section of the garment.

The exact design interface may change over time, but the basic process is to upload your artwork, position it on the product template, adjust its scale, and preview each printable area.

Step 3: Tile and Resize the Seamless Pattern

After uploading the seamless pattern file, select Tiling in the product designer. I use the Basic tiling option, which repeats the pattern evenly both vertically and horizontally.

Basic tiling creates a straightforward stacked repeat. Each pattern tile lines up directly above, below, and beside the next one, without creating a half-drop or staggered arrangement.

Once Basic tiling is selected, resize the pattern file to adjust the scale of the repeat:

• Make the pattern file smaller to create more repetitions and a daintier, more detailed appearance.
• Make the pattern file larger to create fewer repetitions with bigger, more noticeable motifs.

For this floral fleece jacket, I adjusted the size until the roses were large enough to remain visible on the fluffy fabric but small enough to create an even, balanced print across the garment.

As you resize the pattern, check the preview carefully. Look at how the repeat appears across the front, back, sleeves, and collar. Continue making the pattern larger or smaller until you are happy with its scale on the entire jacket.

Tip: Basic tiling works especially well for a traditional seamless pattern because it preserves the pattern’s original straight repeat. You do not need to manually duplicate and position the artwork—the tiling tool repeats the file for you.

Step 4: Cover Every Printable Area

Make sure the pattern completely covers every section of the product template, including any bleed area shown by the provider.

Extending the design beyond the visible edges helps prevent unexpected white spaces if the fabric shifts slightly during printing or construction.

Check each section individually, including:

• Left and right front panels

• Back panel

• Sleeves

• Collar

• Any additional printable pieces shown in the template

Try to keep the scale consistent across all of the pieces unless you intentionally want part of the jacket to look different.

Step 5: Check the Placement Around the Zipper and Seams

All-over-print garments are made from separate printed pieces that are sewn together. Because of this, a seamless pattern usually will not match perfectly across every seam.

That is completely normal.

Instead of trying to make every flower connect across the zipper, concentrate on creating an attractive and balanced placement. Look for any motifs that may be awkwardly cut in half or positioned directly along the center opening.

Patterns with scattered flowers, bows, small seasonal motifs, gingham, stripes, or organic watercolor elements are often especially forgiving on cut-and-sew products.

Step 6: Review the Digital Mockup

Before placing your order, review the mockup from every available angle.

Check that:

• The artwork covers the complete print area

• The pattern is not accidentally stretched

• The motifs are an appropriate size

• No important element sits in an awkward location

• The colors and placement are consistent

• Each product panel contains the pattern

The digital mockup is helpful, but remember that it is still a preview. Fabric texture, printing, cutting, and sewing can all affect the final appearance.

Step 7: Order a Sample

I strongly recommend ordering a sample before adding a new print-on-demand product to your shop.

A physical sample allows you to evaluate:

• The softness and weight of the fabric

• The overall fit and sizing

• The printed colors

• The clarity of the artwork

• The quality of the zipper and stitching

• How well the pattern works across the finished garment

• The packaging and shipping experience

It also gives you the opportunity to take your own photographs and videos. Original product photography can help customers understand the texture, colors, fit, and overall quality much better than a digital mockup alone.

How My Finished Jacket Turned Out

I was so excited to see one of our digital patterns become a real fleece jacket!

The pink watercolor roses created a soft, feminine look, and the green leaves added just enough contrast. I especially love how the floral print appears on the fluffy surface of the fleece. The texture gives the artwork a beautifully cozy, slightly softened finish.

The jacket has a stand-up collar and a silver-toned zipper with a circular pull. The white interior provides a clean contrast against the pale pink floral exterior.

Because the print is applied to textured fleece, the artwork naturally appears softer than it does in the original digital file. I think that quality works especially well with loose watercolor florals.

 

Tips for Designing Your Own All-Over-Print Fleece

Here are a few things I learned from creating this jacket:

Choose a Pattern That Can Handle Seams

Small repeating florals, scattered motifs, checks, gingham, and organic designs are generally easier to use than patterns containing large centered objects.

Avoid Making the Design Too Small

Very tiny details may become difficult to see on fluffy or heavily textured fabric. If your pattern contains delicate watercolor artwork, test a slightly larger scale in the preview.

Remember That Texture Softens Details

Fleece does not display artwork in exactly the same way as a smooth polyester fabric. Fine lines and subtle details may appear softer on the finished product.

Check Every Product Panel

Do not assume that applying the pattern to one area automatically adds it to every section. Review the front, back, sleeves, and collar individually.

Expect Natural Variations at the Seams

The pattern may not align perfectly where the pieces are sewn together. This is part of the cut-and-sew production process and is not necessarily a printing defect.

Order a Sample Before Selling

A sample helps you confirm the product quality and gives you original photographs for your online shop, social media, Pinterest, and marketing materials.
